Practice philosophy

Care focused on your long-term health

Our purpose is to take care of your dental health responsibly. The outcome for you is a healthy mouth, teeth and gums. A healthy mouth is an important requirement for:

  • General systemic health, in particular the health of your blood vessels.
  • A good smile.
  • The ability to eat a wide range of healthy foods.
  • Psychological and social wellbeing.
  • A better self-image and confidence.

We will listen attentively to you during your initial contact and subsequent communication. Our receptionist will give you a choice of appointment times which are available, usually within a few days of contact with us. If you have significant pain, infection or cosmetic impairment, you will be offered an appointment in the next 24 hours, and often on the same day.

Usual opening times

Monday – Friday: 8.30 am – 5.30 pm

Safe care you can trust

Your safety and long-term dental health guide everything we do. Below is how we protect you at every appointment, and the choices we make to reduce our impact on the environment.

Safe care you can trust

Thorough infection control

Every instrument used in your care is sterilised, sealed in individually tracked packaging, and recorded against your clinical notes at every appointment. Clinical surfaces and equipment are prepared using disposable barriers and a strict disinfection routine.

Environmentally responsible choices

Where suitable products are available, we choose biodegradable barriers, gloves and disposable items to reduce the environmental impact of your dental care.

Infection Control Practices and Sterilisation Procedures

Every instrument used in your mouth has been sterilised and stored in sterile packages, which have an individual tracking barcode label, which is recorded in your clinical notes for every appointment you have.

Sterilisation of instruments is achieved in a modern class B high-quality dental autoclave set on the longest sterilisation holding time available of 18 minutes at 134 degrees Celsius, which destroys prion particles in addition to bacteria, bacterial spores, viruses, yeasts and fungi. The relevant prion particle in dental clinic settings is Creutzfeldt Jakob Disease (CJD).

Prevention of cross-infection on equipment such as x-rays, light handles, mixing machines and on bench surfaces is achieved by a specific wiping method using dental disinfectant wipes. Single use plastic barriers are used on surfaces that the dentist touches. The plastic used in these barriers is biodegradable.

Use of Environmentally Responsible Plastic Products

We use plastic barriers and other disposable plastic items which are biodegradable. They are supplied by RE Practice in Melbourne, a dental supplier of more environmentally friendly and sustainable dental supplies. RE Practice plastic products are exclusively manufactured with the addition of DDPA (Totally Degradable Plastic Additives) that decompose into nontoxic end products within 1–5 years.

We buy the following products from RE Practice:

  • Suction tips
  • Head rest covers
  • Patient bibs
  • Sterilisation pouches
  • Air-water syringe barriers
  • Light cure machine barriers
  • Equipment and control barriers
  • X-ray machine barriers
  • Computer mouse barriers
  • Micro brushes
  • Bin liners

Our nitrile gloves and patient cups are biodegradable.
